Аннотация: В центре внимания находится история банка «Virgin Money» (до 2012 г. – «Northern Rock», являющегося одним из ведущих в Великобритании. Отмечается, что траектория данной корпорации в концентрированном виде отразила общую эволюцию британской банковской системы на протяжении ряда десятилетий (либерализацию 1980–2000-х гг., ипотечный кризис 2007–2008 гг., последующие попытки восстановления). В основу исследования положены статистические данные, обработанные автором, а также материалы британских СМИ.

Annontation: The article is focused on the history of the «Virgin Money» bank (until 2012 – «Northern Rock»), which is one of the leading banks in the United Kingdom. It is noted that the trajectory of this corporation reflected in concentrated form the general evolution of the British banking system over a number of decades (liberalization of the 1980–2000s, the mortgage crisis of 2007–2008, and subsequent attempts at recovery). The study is based on statistical data processed by the author, as well as materials from the British media.
